Islamabad is the capital and the 3rd largest city of Pakistan, and it is the 121th largest city of the World. Islamabad is a capital within the Islamabad Capital Territory. Islamabad is located in the Pothohar Plateau in the northeastern part of the country. The region has historically been a part of the crossroads of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It is regarded as the most developed city in Pakistan. The name of the city, Islamabad is derived from two words, Islam and abad, meaning "city of islam". Islam an Arabic word which refers to the religion of Islam and -abad is a Persian place name that means inhabited place or city. Islamabad is considered one of the earliest sites of human settlement in Asia. |
