Taipei is the capital and largest city of Taiwan and the 38th largest city by population of the World. Taipei, officially known as Taipei City, is situated at the northern tip of Taiwan. It is bordered by the Xindian River on the south and the Tamsui River on the west. Taipei was founded in the early 18th century under the Qing Dynasty rule and became an important center for overseas trade in the 19th century.
