Sherbrooke is the 22th largest city of Canada. It is the 4th largest city of the Province of Quebec. The city is located at the confluence of the Rivers St Francois / Francis and Magog close to Mount Orford. Sherbrooke is divided into 6 Bourough: Brompton Flerimont Jacques Quartier Lennoxville Mount Bellevue Rock Forest St Elie Deauville. Sherbrooke was settled in 1793. Until 1818 the village was called Hyatt´s Mills. 1918 it was renamed after the Governor General Lord "Sherbrooke". 2002 Jan 1 Sherbrooke became much larger by mergering with neighbouring towns, Ascot, Bromptonville, Deauville, Fleurimont, Lennoxville, Rock Forest, and Saint-Elie-d'Orford. |
