Paderborn is the 55th largest city of Germany, and the xxth largest city of the Europe. Paderborn is the 23rd largest city of the German State Nordrhein Westfalen. The city is located on the small Pader River. Paderborn is divided into neigborhoods (Stadtteile). The name Paderborn comes from the river "Pader", it means the place where the Pagdern is "born", born is an old German word for source of a river. Paderborn was founded in 795 by Charlemagne even though 777 was already build a castle on the spot. |
